“ Been wanting to try this place for a bit and finally went for sunday brunch. You can hear the music bumping from the street! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by friendly hostess staff and we were taken right to our table. I was worried it would be too busy but we didnt have to wait for a table. You cannot go wrong for appetizer and an entree, along with 2 hours unlimited brunch drinks (sangria or mimosa) for $34.99 per person. But what I loved was the fact that the food, service and drinks had quality. My burger was delicious and juicy- the fries were crispy and fresh. The music was a bit loud but I cant complain since song selection was on point and after a few drinks, I was feeling the vibe!! Perfect place for a party style brunch without it being overly turn up. Great mixed crowd - ethnicity and age wise. I will totally be coming back. ”

“ Happy Hour till 10pm on a Saturday?!?! What more could one want. After deciding on a last minute girls night out we figured it would be best to stay local. The only problem... where can we grab great food at a decent price? I pulled out my handy dandy Yelp App and came across 809, which had been bookmarked in one of my collections. It was pretty busy when we arrive, but we were immediately seated. Service was fast & friendly. & Their happy hour menu was still available till 10pm (we were skeptical being this is located in Dyckman). You get a free Sangria if you check in on the Yelp app! I suggest you download the app if you haven't already and get your free drink. The sangria was strong and tasty. I typically don't enjoy Sangria's but I'll def be ordering it again whenever I'm back. Their Pina Colada was also pretty good. The Jack Punch is STRONG! The table's favorite happy hour meal was definitely the quesadillas. The guacamole was a great addition to it. The chicken empanadas were also good. Shrimp dumplings were just ok. This is my new favorite go-to spot in Dyckman. The great reviews lived up to the expectations. Decently priced, nice ambience and great service. Will be back soon! ”

“ I'm all about the vibes at brunch! The auora at this place is top notch. I came for brunch with my girl and I'm still dancing! The Dj is amazing and the house punch is...... let's just say from what I remember great! I had the tostones with chicken n pico de gallo and the chimi burger. Everything was great, our server Carlos was soooo amazing! Very friendly and helpful. I will be back. ”

“ I've been wanting to come here for a while and I was happy I got the chance while I had some family fly in. Based on reviews everyone kept saying its overly loud, I was worried we would be able to talk but on a Thursday night it was very quiet. Definitely come on a weekend if you want some quiet time. The decor is beautiful here. Much better than most spots in Dyckman. Happy hour drinks were so good and strong at $7. I got pollito barahona and it was ok but something about the sauce didn't taste good to me. It wasn't the usual dominican flavors I was used to. I would come again just to try something new and the service was great. They were so kind, something I also wasn't used to because of the neighborhood and always being there. I appreciated their service. Can't wait to go back. ”

“ **Sunday Brunch review** Great food,great service & great time. Had a reservation for 5 at 12:30pm on a Sunday..the host told us on the phone to make sure we arrive at exactly 12:30 or they would give our table away...to our surprise, we arrived and the place was completely empty...and we had the place to ourselves 'till around one, where it quickly filled up. The brunch is 30$ (they include tip at the end as well) which includes an appetizer,entree and unlimited mimosas or '809 rum punch' they did a great job at making sure our drinks were never empty (which is exactly what you want when you do a bottomless brunch). For my appetizer i ordered the Montaditos (plantain topped with shredded chicken,pico de gallo & guacamole) really good. And for my main course I got the steak and eggs along with 3 of my friends. I was pleasantly surprised my eggs came perfectly sunny side up and my friends all got perfect over easy as they requested. The skirt steak was also awesome. The food and service was great, even as the place began to fill we never felt neglected by the staff. I can't wait to come back for brunch again! ”

“ Birthday 2017 celebration continues throughout the week and a happy ending of Happy Hour in Dyckman, Washington Heights. The atmosphere is modern, spacious and wide and clean, albeit somewhat busy but does not give the appearance of crowded. Party of two after work hours was initially for a cool down for drinks but turned into one entrée for each of us. There is a check-in offer from Yelp mobile application. Our server is utter clueless and baffled of what is Yelp and clueless if their business offered any discounts, thus she asked another staff who was on the same level of confusion and clueless "what's Yelp?" I ordered one Mojito $7 and one Margarita $7. My two drinks were average albeit a nice cooling station on a hot humid day. I used my check-in offer for my co-worker who ultimately ordered two red Sangria and the same entrée. Half hour of chilling into our drinks, a gentleman entered the bar area chatting among us very on a casual level who disclosed himself as manager and cook of 809 Sangria Bar & Grill. Low and behold since he is the manager and cook he was to become our savior!! I took a gamble to see if he know what Yelp is and shown him my Yelp mobile check-in offer which Federico Alvarez Cordero actually understood. Finally, clarity! He mentioned our female server's limited English skills which we can visibly see and must grit and bear in hopes of honoring the check-in offer upon ringing our respective bills. Federico mentioned a changed in management which results a redesigned menu for a Dominican flair focused. There is a private room for private events. 809 Sangria is a good after work hang out spot. Boisterously loud music in the background. Reasonable price for entrées. Standard bar snack food offered is Planters peanuts lightly salted but no pretzels. Business cards are available for grabs. Pescado Samana $20 Chilean sea bass in coconut sauce, as a Dominican staple which was very fresh, smooth, silky and the peppers were a good pairing. Surprisingly and amazing this entrée has no fish stench. As always, I never cared for mushrooms and pushed it to the side untouched. ”
